General Description

Electronic upshifting at full throttle, seamless acceleration - whether for racing motorcycles, street motorcycles, drag bikes, go-karts, cross karts - basically anything with a sequential gearbox. The PQ8 does not trigger an error message on engines with fuel injection. The PQ8 was developed with the latest technology and is also continuously optimized through use in racing series worldwide.

Features:
- Stand-alone system: no additional accessories are required.
- Easy dismantling possible.
- Delivery of a universal shift rod (6 mm internal thread). This may need to be shortened to the correct length depending on the footrest system used. Other shift rods in different lengths are available, see accessories.
- Based on the most advanced GP technology and completely computer-aided using a 20 MHz CPU. Programming using a 2-button system.
- Compu Shift, calculates the perfect interruption time for each individual upshift. With a selection of 500 interruption times, different engine conditions, acceleration, load and engine speed are taken into account depending on the driving condition. The interruption time can be set between 40-80 milliseconds.
- Simulates a stable engine operation during the gearshift process compared to the ECU and thus allows a smooth and stable upshift process. No error messages are generated and it does not lead to an unwanted leaning or enriching of the mixture formation.
- Integrated “Smooth Shift” to reduce peak loads on the gearbox and chain. In addition, the loss of traction is minimized when upshifting, as with MotoGP automatic gearshifts. During the upshift process, all cylinders are switched off simultaneously, and traction is restored using a computer-aided sequence in conjunction with Compu Shift.
- Solid, waterproof housing and high-quality wiring harness. The circuit board is completely encapsulated and equipped with a 26-pin connector according to aviation standard.
- Very high quality sensor based on strain gauge technology.
- Sensor works on pressure and tension, can therefore also be used for reversing.
- All functions can be programmed easily and without problems directly at the racetrack or on tour, without any additional device, using two buttons and the LED display.
- Supplied with ready-to-use connectors for Denso and Mitsubishi ignition coils, which are used in most Japanese sports bikes, as well as Triumph and KTM vehicles [KTM Superduke R 2008 uses Beru ignition coils, please use the wiring harness for Ducati 749 here]. For Ducati 748-998, 749-1198, Aprilia RSV 4, MV Agusta 2 and 4 ignition coils, corresponding wiring harnesses are available through the Cordona distribution network. For other ignition coil systems, installation is not “plug and play” but remains straightforward.
- In vehicles with spark plug ignition coils, the +12V voltage supply from the ignition coil is via the red cable, which leads directly to the CPU of the PQ8 automatic switch. Easy installation, as additional cable installation for 12V voltage supply is not required.
- Automatic on/off switching controlled by speed. Fully adjustable to prevent accidental shutdown of the engine by switching to neutral while idling.
- Auditory signal generator for acoustic feedback during function testing and commissioning. Very useful when installed behind panels.
- Auto Shift, for drag racing only, can be selected to automatically activate the automatic gearshift at a specific and adjustable rpm. The driver only has to keep the gearshift lever pre-loaded between gearshifts. Useful in handicap races where the driver has to stay under the break out time. The gearshift rpm can be lowered to be deliberately slower in the following race.
- Energy saving: if no input is made on the PQ8 display for 60 seconds, the electronics go into energy saving mode. A flashing dot now indicates that the system is ready. Very useful if a battery pack is used to power the switchgear. The majority of the energy consumption is due to the PQ8 display.
